Christopher Uriarte is Chief Information Officer and a Global Practice Leader at Aonís Cyber Solutions (NYSE: AON). He oversees a number of different operational and consulting practice areas for the group, which also includes the historical Stroz Friedberg, an Aon Company and Cytelligence Corporation. His scope includes solutions/product development, PMO & governance, product management/strategy, business operations and enterprise technology. He is also the executive leader of the companyís Electronic Discovery and Intelligence consulting practices.
Chris joined Aon in 2017 after a twenty-year career developing products and services in the risk management industry. For a large portion of his career, he was a recognized expert in areas related to payments and credit card fraud, financial fraud and money laundering. Throughout that time, he developed specialized systems and operations for many of the world's largest banks and retailers. He has extensive global operational experience in companies of all sizes, having spent much of his career based in New York, London, Miami and Shanghai.
He was formally the Chief Payments & Strategy Officer at Vesta Corporation, a global leader in specialized payments and fraud prevention services to major retailers and telecommunication companies. At Vesta, he oversaw the companyís payments operations, corporate strategy and product management functions. During his time at Vesta, the company provided guaranteed payment services that processed over $10 billion in annual payment volume through their operations in the US, Europe and Asia.
Prior to joining Vesta, he served as Vice President and Head of International Operations & Implementations at American Express (NYSE: AXP). At Amex, he oversaw the company's efforts to deploy new products and services into global markets, with a particular focus on emerging markets and payment types. During his tenure at Amex, he oversaw teams and initiatives in the US, Mexico, Brazil, Western Europe and mainland China.
Prior to Amex, he spent eleven years as the Chief Technology Officer and Head of International Development at Retail Decisions (Formally LSE: RTD, now part of ACI Worldwide), a London-based specialist in payment processing and fraud prevention, where he managed the company's product, research, development and strategic technology efforts. During the peak of his tenure at ReD, he helped grow the company's footprint to process over 19 billion of the world's 190 billion annual payment card transactions.
More recently, he served as a consultant with Glenbrook Partners, servicing global retailers, technology companies, credit bureaus and private equity firms through numerous fraud prevention, payments and risk management engagements. Earlier in his career, he worked for the AdProTech Group, IDT Corporation, and as an adjunct to the Rutgers University Center for Applied Computing Technologies.
In 1998, he was named to the InfoWeek Magazine Hot 30 Under 30 list, profiling the country's leading influential technologists under the age of 30. In 2007, he received the Infoworld Magazine CTO 25 Award, awarded annually to the twenty-five most innovative technology executives in the country. He is also a recipient of American Express's most prestigious employee awards, including the American Express Special Chairman's Award for Excellence and the Amex Pinnacle President's Award.
He has served as a member of the boards of directors or advisory boards for a number of companies and trade organizations, including the Direct Response Forum (DRF), Dynamic Vision Distributions, Inc., Merchant Risk Council, Clearsale Corporation, Oracle Corporation and Golden Gate Software (later acquired by Oracle). Most recently, he served on the Board of Directors of Fusion Recruiting Labs, Inc., which won a number of major industry and startup awards, including being ranked No. 223 on the Inc. 5000 list and No. 70 on the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 list.
Chris is based in New York City.
